The brewer lorenz sifvert had this gorgeous listed building erected in 1780 as a brewery and living quarters for workers and since then it has been the headquarters for the city guard and later, during the cholera epidemic in 1834 the barracks were transformed into a temporary hospital with rooms for 239 patients. Since 1976 this lovely building has been the site of columbus hotel and has retained a flavour of its stylish past blended with the standards now highly possible in the supreme hotels.
